Oversized Chrome Plated Engine Valves
Using oversize engine valves is nothing new
to the engine rebuilding industry. Not many would argue that using an oversize
engine valve program
offers the most productive quality system available today. So why doesn’t everyone use
oversize? The number one reason, expense! That’s where CalValves can help. We take your
used valve core and turn them into oversized engine valves. When you tear down your
engine heads, just
throw the engine valves into a 55-gallon drum. That’s the last time you’ll have to touch them
until your ready to assemble. We do the rest.
We’ll take your
valve core, clean, identify, and 100% inspect. Any engine valve found to be scrap
(bent, burnt, rusted, thin margin, bad tip), is discarded and replaced with our valve core
to virtually eliminate your need to buy any new engine valves. We put 0.004
inches per side of hard industrial chrome on the valve stems (up to 20 times industry
standards), which is essential for today’s lead free hotter running engines. Next, we
precision grind the engine valve stems to one common size. As an example, all 11/32 stems finish at
0.3498" (exhaust valves are ground with a 0.0007" taper).
This not only simplifies your operation, thus increasing production, but also reduces
tooling cost. Faces and tips are ground before heading for final inspection. A notable
characteristic measured at final inspection is margin. We measure margin as head
thickness, referencing the gauge diameter. This is the preferred method and is what is
performed at the OEM. After final inspection, the valves are packaged. Each box is labeled
with a part number, description, lot number, and date.
Not only does our +8 valve program give you a top quality, cost effective alternative to
valve salvage and valve guide repair, it’s also very user friendly. With one pass of our
exclusive six fluted solid carbide reamer through your valve guide, and 0.004 inches per
side of hard chrome on your valve stems, your heads will be ready for a long and durable life.
Imagine, no more cleaning, sorting, inspecting, or grinding. Best of all no more liners
and the labor needed to install them. The benefits are time, quality, salvage rates, and
cost. That brings us to pricing, which is straight-forward. We charge one common price for
all valves. Below are average cost reductions experienced when using Cal Valves.
